Owen Roddy’s professional MMA debut took place in November 2005. He was able to finish a choke on his opponent, Mark Robinson, getting him the win. This was able to get him some attention. One of Owen Roddy’s best fights of all time might be his fight against Micky Young in 2007. The fight took place at the Ireland Regional (ROT 6). Roddy starts the fight off with a lot of offensive movement. He maintains his stance in the middle of the ring, forcing Micky Young to the ropes. He blocks almost all of Young’s punches and even returns with some intense knees to the stomach. Suddenly Young drags Roddy to the ground but he is unable to keep Roddy’s back. Roddy reverses him and eventually makes it back up to his feet. Young knocks him back down and starts throwing strong punches to Roddy’s head. Little did Young know, he left his arm in a dangerous position. Roddy takes the chance and goes straight for the armbar. Young has no way of escaping the attack and taps. This fight is so special because it displays why Owen Roddy got the nickname of “Rowdy”. It only took him a matter of a few minutes to secure the win. Even in a bad situation he was able to formulate a solution that secured him the win.
