Luiz Dorea is a Brazilian boxing coach and former professional boxer who is known for training some of the best boxers and mixed martial artists coming out of Brazil from his gym, the Academia Champion, in Brazil.

Luiz Dorea started boxing at a young age however in 1988, when he was only 23 years old, his trainer passed away. This caused Dorea to open up his own training camp, first in his own garage just so he and other practitioners would have a place to stay. Eventually in 1990 Dorea officially opened his academy Champion (Academia Champion/Champion Team) gym. It began to grow over the years and quickly gained the fame of being the palace where many of the greatest Brazilian boxers got their start.

From there Dorea trained boxers like Acelino Freitas when he won a Pan American silver medal in 1995 in Mar del Plata and won multiple titles in WBO and WBA between 1999 and 2006. Dorea has also trained former UFC middleweight champion and greatest of all-time candidate Anderson Silva.
